Both are high quality print stations but much depends on your specific needs and output.
Inkjet printers are more compact and less expensive to purchase and make excellent quality color prints, particularly photos. They are slower (up to 16 pages per minute) and are meant for small volume output as the supplies are more costly for the amount of pages they print.
Inkjets spray liquid ink through microscopic nozzles directly onto your page and can be used on a wider range of document media.
Laserjets tend to be larger devices and are designed for higher speeds (up to 65 pages per minute) and print volumes, most often they are shared by multiple users in a business on their network and have a much lower cost per page than inkjet printers.
Laserjets charge the paper to attract the toner (powder) particles with a laser beam and an imaging drum and then fuse the image to the page with heat.
So as I said earlier if it is for occasional or low document output go for the inkjet but if you plan to be printing more volume then the laser is your best investment in the long run.
